Tee times for the Champaign Class 2A boys golf regional at the U of I Orange Course in Savoy have been released. Groups will tee off from both #1 and #10, with the first groups going out at 9:00.

U-High will start at #1, playing with Champaign Centennial, Mahomet-Seymour, and St. Thomas More. Tee times are:

We are excited to be hosting the IHSA Boys Golf State Finals for another year. It will take place on October 14-15, 2011 at The Den, Prairie Vista, and Weibring Golf Club. We are looking for volunteers for this event, mainly for driving shuttle carts around the courses for spectators. Please consider helping out at this great event. *Boys play from the Burgundy Tees. Girls from Green Tees
*USGA Rules apply. The ball will be played down.
*All tall grass lining any fairway will be played as a lateral hazard (not marked)
*DOUBLE PAR RULE IN EFFECT for girls only!

Stroke Play:
*Rule 3-3 - Doubt as to procedure play two balls.

Out of Bounds: Rule 27
*Penalty stroke and distance
*Defined by white line or fence on #1, #2, #4, #5, #15, #18.

Water Hazards: Rule 26
*Red stake or line - lateral hazard on #3, #9, #11, #12, #16, #18.
*Yellow stake or line -water hazard on #14

Ground under repair:
*Marked by white.

Drop Area - Girls Only - #14 across water used after a ball goes into the hazard.

Bridges and Culverts:
*Played as lateral hazard rule. Marked in red.

Yardage Markers:
*200 (blue), 150 (white), and 100 (red)
*Yard plates and sprinkler head yardage to center of green.

Local Rules:
*150 yard bushes (free drop) no closer to hole.

Scoring:
*Please be sure to mark your score on the correct hole.
*When finished, give your scorecard to your coaches - they will give to score table.
*Play 6 count 4

Ties:
*Individual ties for 1^st place only determined by sudden death commencing on hole #10, followed by #9, and continuing with this hole selection until a winner is determined.
*Players in sudden death who do not win will all be awarded 2nd place medals.
*Duplicate medals will be awarded for all other ties.

The top three teams from this regional advance to the LaSalle-Peru Sectional at Senica's Oak Ridge Golf Club east of LaSalle on Monday, October 10.

Boys Golf Fundraiser @ Bloomington Noodles on 9/7

On Wednesday September 7th if you or anyone you know eats at Noodles from 4-9, 10% of the proceeds will benefit the boys golf team. Please note that this is only available at the Bloomington location, on Veterans Pwky. I know the date may be tough for some of you as varsity is out of town that night and at 6:30 is the U-High open house. But perhaps you will want to eat out prior to going to the open house, as there really won't be time to make dinner after work :-)

Please help me spread the word by inviting your friends and colleagues. Attached is information about the benefit. I do not know if you need to bring in one of the coupons (attached) or just mention U-High golf team.

Coach & Spectator Carts:
Carts are available at no charge for coaches only. A cart fee of $12 will be charged to spectators that wish to take a cart.

Player Conduct:
1. For willful acts of defacing the golf course, club throwing or breaking, or abusive language, a player will be assessed a 2 stroke penalty for unsporting conduct.

2. For a second occurrence of unsporting conduct in the same day – the player will be disqualified and ejected for the day. Head Coach must submit a “Special Report” to the IHSA. A link to the form can be found in the IHSA Schools Center.

3. For a third occurrence of unsporting conduct any time during the tournament day or days or a single act of gross misconduct, a disqualification from the contest will result and in accordance with IHSA by-laws, will be ineligible for the next interscholastic contest at that level. Head Coach must submit a “Special Report” to the IHSA. A link to the form can be found in the IHSA Schools Center.

According to the IHSA website, we are assigned to the Bloomington Regional at PRAIRIE VISTA GC along with Bloomington, East Peoria, Mahomet-Seymour, Metamora, Morton, Rantoul, and Washington.

Our regional is assigned to the Dunlap Sectional, which will be held at KELLOGG GC in Peoria. The regionals from Lincoln, Sandwich, and Rock Island also feed into our Sectional.

Bad news ...

I received word today that the Central Illinois Junior Tour (run out of Springfield) will not exist this summer. In the words of the tour director, Ryan Matrisch, "We are not having the central il junior tour for 2010. The junior market is not big enough nor fair to the juniors for the central Illinois market."

We still have three other tours to choose from: Central Illinois Junior Golf Tour (CIJGT), the Junior Tour sponsored by Nike (NikeJT), and the East Central Illinois Junior Golf Tour (ECIJG). Combine that with the various independent events that occur throughout Central Illinois and we should have a great assortment of events for our young golfers to choose from.

A am working on a calendar this weekend and will hopefully have something available by the end of next week. I am still waiting on final dates from ECIJG.
